During Summer Camp, the children discover new English words every day that fit what they are experiencing. They learn not only individual words, but also how to use them in short sentences to better express themselves. So their vocabulary grows naturally, through talking and listening. For older children, a step is added: simple grammar. They learn how sentences are constructed, how to say something in the past tense, and how little words like in, on and at can make a big difference. Everything is explained in a playful way, with examples that fit their everyday experiences at camp. So learning English doesn't become something out of a book, but something they really use in their conversations and activities.
Music brings energy and fun to learning! By singing together familiar English songs such as Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes to popular songs of today, children practice sounds, rhythm and pronunciation without it feeling like a lesson. The music makes it easy to remember words, and thanks to repetition, phrases stick naturally. During these musical moments, they learn not only to sing, but also to listen, move and participate in English. The atmosphere is cheerful and relaxed, so that even the most shy children soon sing along enthusiastically. Thus their self-confidence and their feeling for the English language grows in a natural, playful way.
In the creative corner, language comes alive in color and form. As the children craft, draw or paint, they talk to the facilitators about what they are making: "I'm drawing a dog!" or "My favorite color is green." In this way, they spontaneously practice their English without realizing it. Art Class is not only a quieter time in the day, but also a chance for children to express their own style while learning new words for shapes, colors, materials and more. At the end of camp, they proudly take home their artwork, a tangible reminder of a creative yet educational week.
Movement and language go hand in hand during camp. During sports and dance, children learn English words in action: "run," "jump," "pass the ball," "turn around!" giving them a real experience of the language. Supervisors' instructions are always in English, supported by gestures, so everyone quickly understands what is meant. During energetic games, short sports activities and joyful dance moments, the children learn to listen to English instructions and respond in the moment. The energy and fun make learning come naturally. Even children who are a little shy at first soon dare to participate enthusiastically and find that they understand and use more English than they thought.
At Summer Camp, children are always supervised by professional and enthusiastic counsellors. These are recent graduates and students with excellent knowledge and pronunciation of the English language. Their greatest strength? Introducing children to English in a playful and inspiring way.
Our counsellors attend Pro English Academy's intensive training days and all have a valid Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). In addition, they are trained in first aid and have signed the Child Protection Policy & Privacy Policy. So parents can be sure that their children are in a safe and caring environment.
